Rainbow Over Monument Valley
Monument Valley is a must stop when planning for and visiting the Southwest. It’s a crossroads, as you sort of have to travel close by it anyway. I would highly recommend that you stop … at least for a 1/2-day within the area, especially if you’ve never seen the amazing buttes that are scattered throughout the landscape.
On this rainbow morning, I woke about an hour before sunrise to find a heavy rain storm upon us and went back to sleep thinking that the morning light was a washout. I was then jarred awake by one of my best friends knocking on the window of my RV saying something like … “GET OUT HERE NOW” … I grabbed my gear and jumped out to see a strong, beautiful rainbow overhead. I literally sprinted up a small hill and through some wet sand to get a better vantage point and was able to capture several different scenes with Mitchell Butte, before this beauty faded and disappeared.
